2021-2022 Group Supervision

Group Supervision is a monthly gathering of reflective practitioners engaged in supervision of interpreting work that uses demand-control schema as the common framework and language for work analysis. Supervision will take place on-line using distance technology in groups of 5-7 practitioners. 

Each group will have supervision leaders to guide the group through structured reflective practice to improve the quality of work and support the wellbeing of the interpreter. 

Total of 1.8 CEUs upon completion of the 9 month program (pending).

Convene your Own Group

You pull together a group of 4-5 colleagues to meet monthly and discuss your work. Supervision You can set the date/time based on the availability of your unique group. 

Leaders will be matched to your group from the pool of credentialed, qualified, and/or candidate leaders.

Join an IIRAS convened group

You register for IIRAS Group Supervision and we place you into a group randomly with colleagues from around the globe. The sessions are held the 3rd Monday or Saturday of each month (see details in the registration form below).

Two Options for Engaging this Year

Description

Supervision is an evidence-based reflective process used by other practice professions such as nursing and counseling. The goal of supervision is to  support individual practitioner development, ensure professional accountability, and receive collegial support. 

 

IIRAS group supervision will provide working interpreters with a supportive online community of practice. Every month participants will bring topics encountered in their everyday work to explore with colleagues with the intention of improving their interpreting practice. Trained Supervision Leaders will support participants through the supervision process.

Educational Objectives 

  • Participants will be able to describe and demonstrate the process of analyzing a case using the demand control schema.

  • Participants will employ their knowledge of demand control schema and professional group supervision to analyze various interpreted interactions.

  • Participants will be able to distinguish demands, controls, consequences and resulting demands in the context of interpreting work.

  • Participants will engage in reflective reflective practice on their own work as evidenced by group discussion.

  • Participants will demonstrate collegial behavior, support, and respect with a diverse group of colleagues.

Continuing Education Units

"Oregon Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This Professional Studies program is approved for 1.6 CEUs at the Some content knowledge level."
